The Joker and “Gotham”

March 15, 2016

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet Kronos employees from all over the world at our Global Project Management Office (GPMO) Summit in Atlanta. We had professional services representation from Canada, China, the UK, Belgium, Australia, Mexico, and India, just to name a few. It’s one of the cool perks of working for a global organization. When I flew back to Boston, I immediately joined another meeting. This one focused on the rollout of a new global IT system touching every area of our business. I joined the Boston meeting at the tail end, and the group was really getting into the weeds on data and process, but I was really impressed how the cross-functional team didn’t devolve into any rat holes. They got into the detail needed to make decisions, made them, and moved on. During the cross-room conversation, I kept hearing things like “Gotham can do that,” and “We can get that from Gotham.” I wasn’t sure what “Gotham” was… Maybe it was some all-knowing consulting firm that was going to magically solve these thorny data issues we were addressing. During a break, I leaned over to ask a colleague, “Dan” to confirm my assumption. I’ve known him for a while, and he’s always seemed like a good guy. I trust(ed) him.

Me: “Hey, what’s this Gotham?”
Dan: “It’s a city where Batman lives.”

The conversation restarted as I enjoyed Dan’s response, but I still didn’t have a legit answer. Later I figured out that “Gotham” is actually “Gautam” as in Gautam Gupta, our manager of sales analytics…

Anyway, whether your name is “Gautam” or you’re from Gotham, Canada, China, the UK, Belgium, Australia, Mexico, or India, we’ve got over 250 open positions!
