AOLVerizon is buying AOL for $4.4 billion. Some think this is the beginning of the end for the AOL brand, but I sure hope not for the 3 people in my address book who still have an address:

  1. My mom. No explanation necessary.
  2. Someone who just doesn’t want to change his email for the 4,734 music news subscriptions he has.
  3. That one’s in the vault.

AOL. It brings me back to a simpler time before some of my co-workers were born, and we were using email that talked to us from the cloud. We just didn’t know it was the cloud yet, because “the cloud” hadn’t been invented by marketing. The Verizon acquisition brings back old marketing memories for some, and makes me think about me, and my KronosWorks presentation… presented by me. It was, and is, about the cloud. We have clouds. You should, too.
