This Is Not Nothing…

April 9, 2013

BarcelonaSo I’m ripping off another blog because I can. In it, I also borrowed René Magritte’s brilliant concept from his famous, “La trahision des images (Ceci n’est pas une pipe).” It’s interesting to go back in time to peer down the dark corridor of my head to see where I was. Back then, I was burned out. I’m feeling a bit like that now, so it was good timing this morning when LinkedIn sent me their CEO, Jeff Weiner’s post, “The Importance of Scheduling Nothing.” He makes some great points, and those most affecting to me are:

  • recharge
  • just think
  • just take a walk
  • hold her hand (I added that one…)

When I walk out of this office today, I’ll be on vacation for a solid week in Copenhagen and Barcelona. I’ve been worried about keeping up with blogging and the associated social media spam I create promoting the same. Screw that. I’m on vacation. I’ll write if I feel like it, and you’ll be the first to know via Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter

Jeff also advises, “don’t leave unscheduled moments to chance.” Oh, don’t you worry, Jeff. (Play)Joyce is a self-described “planner,” and we’ll have a plan. Like a good project manager, she’ll hold my hand through the whole experience.
