There’s No Place Like Cloud

August 8, 2012

When I was a kid, and the only channels were 4, 5 and 7, one annual highlight was watching the “The Wizard of Oz” in feety pajamas. Of course, it’s still timeless, and the story continues to have a strong influence in my family. First, my son Kyle loves the sister Broadway production of “Wicked,” and the movie itself remains atop (Play)Joyce’s top 10. Plus there’s the whole Miss Gulch riding the bike theme music thing, but I covered that already…

Anyway, I was reminded of the film today when (Work)Joyce asked if we had taught our sales force how to help their customers to the cloud. For some reason, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” popped into my head, and of course there sits a big, fluffy cloud. In color. Then I thought about why customers might want to go… And then I thought more about the movie… And, well, these:

Your hardware is squeaky and needs to be replaced…

Wizard of Oz: [in a booming voice] You clinking, clanking, clattering collection of caligenous junk
Why outlay capital expense for new um, tin, when you can simply migrate your Kronos applications to our cloud?

Your IT staff is overwhelmed with multiple projects…

Tin Woodsman: Help! Help!
Scarecrow: It’s no use screaming at a time like this. Nobody will hear you. Help! Help!
You can move your Kronos apps to our cloud, or keep them in house and we can manage them remotely. Either way, your team can focus on more strategic priorities.

You no longer have in-house Kronos expertise…

Dorothy: [to the Scarecrow] Well, what would you do with a brain if you had one?
Did your one “Kronos guy” leave you? Let our team pick up the slack for monitoring and managing your system’s database, service packs, legislative updates when applicable, and even upgrades.

You’ve got a very shaky backup strategy

Zeke: It’s a twister! It’s a twister!
Your Kronos system helps keep you in compliance with labor laws.  We make sure all your data is securely backed up.

System problems are adversely affecting your users

Dorothy: A place where there isn’t any trouble. Do you suppose there is such a place, Toto? There must be. It’s not a place you can get to by a boat or a train. It’s far, far away. Behind the moon, beyond the rain… [begins to sing “Over the Rainbow”]
Dorothy, it’s in the cloud. Let us help keep you out of trouble so you keep your users happy.

There’s no place like cloud. Is it time for you to consider Kronos cloud services?
