The Times They Are a-Changin’

Lately we’ve been collaborating internally about the “journey” some of our customers take with our solutions. There are 3-4 legs to the journey, and for those customers on it, their use of Kronos workforce management solutions evolve something like this:



  1. Simple Automation of HR, Payroll and Timekeeping
  2. Increased employee engagement via selection intelligence, self-service and self-scheduling
  3. Full Workforce Optimization through labor forecasting and real-time analytics

Recently one our customers that is also one of the top ten brands in the world requested we work with them on an Optimization Analysis to help them get more out of their workforce management investment. You would think that one of the most successful companies in the world would already have this stuff figured out, but part of managing success is managing the constant change to stay on top. Since 2003, when they first implemented Kronos for over 4,000 employees, the business has undergone significant changes affecting their workforce, including:

  • developed a mobile workforce
  • consolidated multiple locations
  • implemented rotating work schedules

As a result of these and many other changes, our marquee customer wants to leverage our expertise in providing guidance on a number of items:

  • reduce support and capital requirements
  • streamline their business rule structure (currently have 3,000!)
  • improve employee scheduling
  • explore opportunities for their mobile workforce
  • promote efficiency in their operating procedures
  • assess training needs across the enterprise
  • understand the expectations and needs of both field managers and corporate stakeholders to insure that the solution fully supports the business now and into the future
